On-site/field case management is a primary service offered by Systemedic and is routinely used in both regular lost time and serious/catastrophic claims (see indicators for referral).

The timely involvement of a Systemedic RN medical case manager can assist an employer or claims professional in understanding the extent of an injury and facilitating a goal-directed treatment plan for maximum recovery and return to employment. Our RN case managers have extensive experience in Arkansas workers' comp and are conveniently located throughout the state, providing more cost effective service and up-to-date knowledge of local providers and facilities.

  • home care/home infusion coordination

  • medication assessment

  • medical equipment/vendor negotiation

Indicators for referral to on-site/field case management

  • Any serious or catastrophic injury: multiple trauma, serious or multiple fractures, burns, head injuries, spinal cord injuries, severe neurological damage

  • Acute care hospitalization (case management is particularly indicated for coordination of timely discharge to less expensive home-care program

  • Any admissions to a rehabilitation hospital (telephonic or on-site case management should be in place prior to admission to document objectives and negotiate lowest per diem rate)

  • A difficult or complex case that is not adequately resolving after four to eight weeks of telephonic intervention

  • The presence of underlying complicating medical conditions such as diabetes, obesity, pregnancy, high risk for surgery

  • A history of multiple injuries and treatments with a pattern of re-hospitalizations or expensive medical care

  • Expressions by claimant to claims rep of specific treatment concerns, such as lack of progress under current medical direction, inability to communicate with attending physician, home environment complicating or slowing recovery
